Your Questions About Download Old Movies Songs

Lizzie asks…

how do you make free local space on a mac computer?

i just got the sims for mac and i says i need 1 mb of free space. i dont kno how to make free space. i already tried deleting some of my songs, i actually deleted a whole playlist, but it still says i need space. any help?

Nagesh answers:

Your mac should have come with a file cleaning system such as “File Vault”. In your preferences, enable it, and when you shut down your mac, it should appear with a message that it has located space and asks if it wants you to optimize. If you cannot find that, you can also download free programs such as “onyx” and different mac “cleaner” applications from the mac downloads your apple page. Type in “free downloads” in the search section and view what they offer. Be aware that cleaning will delete cookies for autofill and other caches that might go away. You can reenter these at a later time. Also, if you have iphoto, there are a lot of duplicate files for your pictures. I found “iphotodiet” to be useful for clearing out duplicates. Having a movie on the disk takes up a gazillion bytes. Lastly, search your computer for old “systems,” which may be backups you don’t need and take up a lot of space. If you are not very familiar with your new mac, get a friend who knows a lot before you go deleting a lot of files. You will want to back up to a CD or separate drive before performing your operations. Good luck.

Chris asks…

What is better the Ipod or Zune and why?

I have the 3rd generation Ipod nano 4GB silver and and 4th generation nano 8GB hot pink and i’ve never owned a Zune but i hear all these ravings about it. Not trying to be sarcastic but what makes it any better? Please list the pros and cons of both.

Nagesh answers:

Sorry this is so long but you should read it through, a lot of reasons why Zunes are the better player.

Zunes have more features. They are cheaper. Updates make it so your “old” Zune is exactly like a new Zune. There are games out for it. It has an FM tuner that also displays what song is playing on the radio (if the station broadcasts that info) and when this happens you can add that song to your cart and buy it the next time you sync with your computer (or buy it at that exact moment if you are in a wireless hotspot) then there is the Zune pass which will allow you to Download and keep as many tracks as you want for $14.99/month. As long as you keep paying the $15 you can keep all the tracks, but if you decide to stop you will loose them all, however they allow you to select and keep 10 tracks forever every month. The software is better looking and customizable. You can select any pic on your Zune to be your background. The headphones that come with it are much better than the apple ones. They are hard to scratch (unlike ipods) they have a glass screen which is very hard to scratch/break (also unlike ipods)….you can sync your media wirelessly so you can charge your Zune at work and leave the cable there, and still be able to sync your new music while you are at home. You can also share your music with other players, take the music off your friends players and put it on your computer by reverse syncing (they will still keep all their tracks) you can also wirelessly share music/pics/movies. However they will only be able to listen to the track 3 times then it is gone (this may change some time soon)
overall it is a much better player any way you look at it. If you notice, all the ipod love is saying “because it is better” or “it is cool” and dont really support their claim. The Zune marketplace is Much easier to use than itunes and now their music is 80% DRM free so once you get your music you can use is wherever you want unlike anything you buy on itunes. Plus the music is in higher quality (when compairing bitrates)

you just cant go wrong with the Zunes. Dont be a sheep and buy an ipod because there really is no logical reasoning in getting one.

David asks…

whats the difference between an ipod and an mp3 player?

my daughter wants an ipod for her birthday but i’m having trouble affording one. while checking into them i found mp3 players and some other kind of music down loading thing. i know nothing about these things but i would like to get her what she wants. i don’t know if it has to be a ipod or if she just wants music that she can download, all she told me was that she wanted a screen on it she could read. what would be the easiest and most useful for a 16 year old. i would like to keep it under 150.00 if possible but that probably wont happen. someone please help, her birthday is soon-like tomorrow!

Nagesh answers:

Ipod:
Its thin
It holds up to 20,000 songs, up to 25,000 photos, and up to 100 hours of video — or any combination of each
It can also hold photos
Up to 24 hours of battery life3 means the hits just keep on coming. Whether you’re exercising, commuting, or rocking a road trip, iPod nano may just outplay you.
Some ipods can play movies.

Charles asks…

How can I keep my 2 1/2 year old entertained on a 12 hour plane ride?

We’re going to Alaska in July and I was just needing ideas for a plane to Denver, where we have a 3 hour lay over, then from Denver to Anchorage. On the way back we are going to Phoenix with a 50 minute stop there

Nagesh answers:

It will be hard, but doable. I know, I have a daughter about the same age.

Buy a little backpack for her and pack it full of small, quiet things. NEW things- start buying now and pack them away. If they are new at the time of the trip, they will hold her interest longer.

Books- Look & Find types are good, or favorite character books.

How about a Magna Doodle (the erasable boards with magnetic pens) or coloring book and crayons? My daughter has a Ni Hao, Kai-Lan book from Wal Mart that has a handle AND a pocket for crayons. There are three large crayons, but each end is a different color so there are six colors in the three crayons. This book also wipes clean, and has coloring/activity pages. She also has a crayon wheel, which is one round thing with six different colors around the edge of the wheel. It is easy for little hands to hold onto, and less to drop.

Small toys, such as a My Little Pony or HotWheels/Matchbox cars. How about Littlest Pet Shop figurines and/or Fisher Price Little People/Animals? My daughter loves those.

Small stuffed animal, rag doll, etc. Might be good. If she has a favorite cup, blanket, etc. Be sure to take that.

You might consider investing in an iPod Touch. You can download favorite songs of hers, and also some of her favorite shows and even movies. Might entertain you as well, when she is otherwise occupied and/or sleeping.

The 50 minute layover in Phoenix will really leave you very little time to HAVE to keep her occupied. Getting from point A to point B and through security again will take up all of that time. During that three hour layover in Denver, though, let her run wild somewhere for the time you will (it will not be the full three hours, because again getting from point A to point B and through security will take up a portion of that time. If you can, though, take her outside or just somewhere that she can stretch in the airport. Understand, too, that during the flights and/or layovers she is likely to be grumpy, throw tantrums, etc. Even if she does not usually be have in such a manner. It is NORMAL. We often set our children up for this, and then get upset when they behave that way. All you can do is the best to keep her happy and occupied.

Be sure to limit sugary drinks and snacks before and during the trip to avoid making a potentially bad situation worse. Also, take gum, a sucker or something for the takeoffs and landing- it helps with ear popping.

I hope this helps, wish you the best and hope you enjoy your trip.
