Your Questions About Direct Tv Channel Guide

Ruth asks…

Is it possible to go back an hour or even half hour on Directv Guide menu?

Other cable and satellite provider’s channel guide menus let you scroll back even a few hours to see what movies or shows you missed. There have been many times where I just missed a show or movie and wanted to go back and see the title or description, but I can’t scroll back on Directv/ Direct Tv.

Nagesh answers:

It’s a pain. I’ve had DirecTV for over 10 yrs, never been able to scroll back even a half-hour.

Go to DirecTV.com and go to their TV listings there. You can scroll back a few hours, AFAIK.

Joseph asks…

What channel is justin bieber going to be on CSI?

i cant find what channel its going to be one. i have direct tv. so what channel would it be? please help. and please no rude comments.

Nagesh answers:

Don’t listen to all these people, they probably have different channel numbers than you. Ask your parents or look at the television guide to find out what channel CBS is on. Have fun! I know I love Justin Bieber too 🙂

Robert asks…

How do you record shows on your direct tv dvr?

I’m a new user to direct tv, and I’m not home most of the time, but I still need to watch my favorite shows. Can you please help me?
i actually have the standered receiver. can i still record shows on that?

Nagesh answers:

Preview the guide. The DirecTV guide lists all of the shows available for you to watch. You can preview movie listings up to nearly 2 weeks in advance. The shows are listed in the order of the stations, and you can use the buttons on the systems’ remote to move forward on the guide. To move through the guide 30 minutes at a time, press the “Forward” arrow on the remote. To scroll through the guide in 12-hour increments, press the green button to go forward and the red button to go backward.

Search for a specific show. If you would like to search for a show and don’t know what channel or time it comes on, use the search menu. Press the “MENU” button near the center of your DirecTV remote control. From the menu, choose “Search for Shows” and press the “Select” button. From there, you can search by Title, Person, Channel or Keyword. You can also use the “Review recent searches” option to locate a show you have already searched. When you are searching by title, simply use your controller to input the letters and choose the show from the list.

Record a show. To choose the show you would like to record, highlight it using the cursor arrows on your remote and press the “Select” button. You will then see three options on the menu: “Record once,” “Rec. Series” and “Episodes.” If you would like to record the show only one time, highlight the “Record Once” option and press the “Select” button. From there, you can choose the start and stop time and complete your recording options.

Record a series. Select the “Rec. Series” option, then choose from the format list, which includes “Episode type,” “Keep at most,” “Keep until,” “Start” and “Stop.” Once everything is set, highlight the “Record Series” button and press “Select” on your remote. If the show you would like to record is already playing, press the “R” button on your controller and it will set it to record. If you press the button twice, the series will be recorded.

Watch the recorded show. To access the shows you have recorded using your DirecTV DVR, press the “List” button on your remote control. “My Playlist” will open, and you will see a list of all of the shows you have already recorded. If there is more than one episode of a show, they will be located in a folder that is labeled with the show name. You can open the folder by highlighting it and pressing the “Select” button. From there, you can select the episode you would like to watch, preview its running date and show information, and elect to play or delete it.

Hope this helps

Michael asks…

How many HD channels does Dish Network have on the Center Ice package?

On the programming guide the Center Ice channels are from 626-640, only one of them (626) has an HD channel with it, does this mean they only have one HD channel for Center Ice or do they open up more channels for the HD broadcasts? I know previously Time Warner had four HD channels on their Center Ice package and Direct TV had 14, it looks like Dish may only have one.

Nagesh answers:

No i belive they are mostly all in HD.. What you watch is the actuall broadcast from whatever channel the game is on in their home area.. (if your lucky they have both home and away comentary but this is not always the case) so if the channel showing it is HD.. Then you see HD.. And what game is on what channel just depends on who all is playing that day… So they can put a HD symbol up perminitly if its not always true.. The one you see with HD isnt even games its on the fly

Lizzie asks…

Why is Direct TV not broadcasting FOX football coverage?

I just tuned in to watch Sunday coverage of the NFL on FOX and no football. The channel guide is still showing the coverage that should be there, but no games are being broadcast. What’s going on?

Nagesh answers:

Possibly due to a blackout. I saw two games there today myself..
