Could someone please tell me the basics of setting up a Home Theater?
Hi there. I’d like to set up a Home theater in my basement but have no idea where to start and how it all works. So could someone please explain some of the steps? What do i need to have a good home theater experience?
Money is not a concern. Willing to go the expensive route if required.
Nagesh answers:
You don’t want home theaters in a box =HTIB. The sound system is cheap and crappy, and they only act as disc players and do not allow you to add more devices to it.
Equipment you need for a good home theater experience.
– HD-receiver (amplifier and for hooking up surround sound speakers, you also hook up other devices to it).
– Surround sound speakers for audio.
– HD-TV (Not a fan of projectors).
– Blu-ray player+blu-ray discs for hd videos on your hd-tv, and hd surround sound audio for your hd-receiver.
– Cable box or satellite to view tv channels and if you get one, make sure it can view the hd tv channels for your hd-tv for video and hd-receiver for hd surround sound audio.
Now I’m not sure what you have already.
You have to have a tv first, there is two paths you can take depending on what you got.
– If you already have a non hd-tv, it cannot do anything in hd, but you should get a hd-receiver and surround sound speakers that plug/wire into/onto the HD-receiver because you can still get surround sound.
– If you got the hd-receiver and surround sound speakers first, you can later upgrade your old tv to a hd-tv and then either get a blu-ray player+blu-ray discs to watch your movies in both hd video/audio and/or cable box/satellite for your hd tv video channels.
– If you already have a hd-tv or no tv at all, then you got to get a hd-tv first, then I would get a blu-ray player to watch movie videos in hd and/or get a cable box/satellite to watch some tv video channels in hd.
– If you got the hd-tv first with something to watch in hd, you can then later get a hd-receiver+surround sound speakers.
If you got everything, you will need hdmi cables to connect your devices.
– 1st hdmi cable to hdmi out on devices(blu-ray player or computer.ect) to hdmi in on hd-receiver for audio, then 2nd hdmi cable to hdmi out on hd-receiver to hdmi in on hd-tv for video.
If you only got a hd tv and something like a blu-ray player or a computer that has online/downloaded videos on it.
– Hdmi out on blu-ray and/or computer to hdmi in on hd-tv for tv video and tv audio.
Now you know what you need and how to start.
Additional information, you should wait for blu-rays (discs) to go on sale and are only like $3-5, you don’t want to pay more than $9.99.
– Some blu-rays come with dvd’s and additional movies + special features.
– Best buy allows you to turn in your dvd’s, and you can buy something in blu-ray for $5 cheaper.
You will have to ask another question in order for me to explain what type of tv, receiver.ect that is good to get because I do not have enough room to explain them.

What is wrong with my PlayStation 3 and is there a way to fix it?
First, I’d like to explain what’s wrong. Recently, my PS3 has been acting up. Whenever I turn it on, there is about a 25% chance that the blue light above the eject button will turn on. The first time I did this, I didn’t really consider it much of a problem until I realized that there was a disk in there and it wasn’t reading it. Also, it wouldn’t let me eject it. Then, I tried to play my downloaded game, which unfortunately gave my a black screen and wouldn’t do anything. So, after multiple times of turning the PS3 on and off again, the blue light finally turned back on and it read the disk and I was allowed to play my downloaded game.
However, the next day, the first time I turned my PS3, the blue light decided not to turn on, which meant that I wasn’t going to be allowed to play any games. Eventually, the blue light turned on again and I was able to play.
That was about a week ago. Now, the light barely EVER turns on (maybe once every 2-3 days) and it will only work on the first try. At this point, even if I turn the PS3 on and off 100 times, the blue light will never go on after the first try. So basically, if the blue light doesn’t go on the first time I turn on the PS3, it won’t work for the rest of the day.
On one of the days the PS3 worked, I decided to eject the disk and try to put it in the next day just to see if putting the disk in the PS3 when it’s off would make it work on the first try. Much to my dismay, the next day when I tried to put the disk in, the PS3 turned on, but it would not suck in the disk and the blue light wouldn’t turn on, either.
I believe that up there was yesterday. Today, the PS3 still refuses to take in the disk and the blue light will not turn on, so I’m not able to play any games. I have tried to find a way to make the blue light turn on many times, but nothing has worked. I’ve tried unplugging the power cable and plugging it back in, pushing the eject button to turn it on, sticking a disk into the disk tray to turn it on, and other things. I have also looked all over the internet for a solution to the problem, but not many people seem to have the same problem. If anyone has a solution for this, please share. I wouldn’t like to send my PS3 to Sony to have it fixed for $150 when the PS4 release is (apparently) releasing this holiday season. It’s just not worth it.
Sorry for the long explanation, but I really need help. Anyone who knows what to do, please respond as soon as possible. Thanks to whoever answers this.
I would rather not like to wipe all of my data, because that would be devastating, unless there is a way to back it all up safely and easily.
Yesterday (this is March 21) I actually decided to unplug the power chord from the PS3 for a while and came back to it later, and it worked when I plugged it back in and turned it on. However, today, I tried the same thing and it didn’t work. I wonder why…?
Nagesh answers:
Your problem sounds like an intermittent failure caused by a cold solder connection. That’s actually not that uncommon with PS3 overheating problems. It just hasn’t manifested itself into a hard failure yet.
PS4 not withstanding, it’s still not going to be backwards compatible with PS3 games, so you’ve got some decisions to make.
First, I’d back up all of your current game saves (Game Data Utility and Saved Data Utility) to a flash drive or to the Playstation Cloud if you’re a Playstation Plus subscriber. If you’re a PS Plus member, you can set the data to autosave daily. For external saves, all you need to do is plug in a USB flash drive, select Save Game Data, then copy all the files to the flash drive (hit the triangle button to bring up the menu).
After that, back up all of your existing PS3 drive data to an external drive using the PS3’s Backup/Restore utility (under Settings on the XMB Menu). Your trophy data will of course be maintained online with your PSN account.

Once that’s done, you’ll need to make a decision as to whether or not to get it fixed, get a new one, or let the PS3 go altogether. You can always try reflowing the solder with a heat gun/hair dryer to the bottom of the PS3 for about 10-15 minutes, but if the failure is in the BD player or somewhere else, you may be stuck with the same problem.
If you choose to fix it or get a new one, all you’ll need to do is to plug in the external drives you used to backup your PS3, and restore / copy the data to the new one. You’ll need to have the movie activation deactivated on your old one and activated on your new one (you can only have it activated on one PS3 at a time with the same PSN user account). You’ll have to call Sony for that one; you’ll find out once you try to run a rented movie from the PS Store or play a BD/DVD movie for the first time.
Either way, the bottom line is going to be either fix or replace what you have, or let it go and start over from scratch in a few months when the PS4 hits the street. Personally, I’d stick with the PS3 for now.

I am a 14 year old average teen. I am wondering ether to get an ipad or a kindle fire to pass time.?
Only professional answers with real reasons backing up there answer.
Nagesh answers:
Hi, Daniel, if you want the best get iPad as it is a much better device that has a larger screen, two cameras, and over 500,000 apps/games in iTunes store. However, it is also much more expensive, heavier and less portable to take with you on the go. However Kindle Fire is not a replacement as it is one underpowered device. Nook Tablet from Barnes & Noble clearly is the superior one. Not just 11.5 hours battery life but 9 hours of video playback time – that’s vs. 8 hours for reading and 7.5 hours of video playback on Kindle Fire. 1.0 GB RAM Vs. 512 MB RAM of Kindle Fire, 16 GB content capacity plus 32 GB via microSD card vs. 8 GB capacity of Kindle Fire with no expansion slot. Fully laminated HD screen for reduced glare vs. No lamination of Kindle Fire. Bulit-in and optimized Netflix and Hulu plus with millions of movies/shows vs. 100K movies/shows of Amazon store. Many popular apps in Nook app Store (like Angy Birds, Pandora, QuickOffice, etc.) Nook Tablet has built-in mic for Skype voice conferencing and dictations to speech recognition software and it weights only 14.1 oz., very smooth video playback with excellent screen, and very fast apps load. Nook already has Cloud as all eBooks in your online library are stored there as well as downloaded to your device.
Also, If you walk in with the Nook to Barnes & Noble store, you’re allowed to read ANY available eBook for free while in the store via free provided in the store Wi-Fi and you get free technical support in case of issues in any of the store.
Susan asks…
can anyone gimme the location where i can download the new dark knight comic series?
tried torrents but all its giving me is the movie… guess oly one issue is out as of now!
Nagesh answers:
No where I can think of, sorry to say.
For one, it is too new. Two, American comics are a lot harder to find online than Japanese manga (trust me, I’ve tried and though I have found some series they are hard to find even for older series). Three, it’s actually illegal to do this, so we should not be trying.
Part of the reason why it’s easier to find mangas than American comics is a lot of mangas when first published in Japan aren’t licensed/copyrighted here and thus for us to download them and read them online is legal.

Where can I buy or download the movie Say Anything online?
The 80s movie!
Nagesh answers:
You can find it at Amazon or another store by typing it into their search engines. I don’t think you can download a movie that is 20 years old.
