Your Questions About Download Old Movies Songs

James asks…

Transferring stuff to a new ipod?

I have an ipod touch, 2nd generation and am thinking about getting the new ipod touch. The only thing that I am worried about is all of my old music and my movies. I know most of my music is in my Itunes library, but some of it isn’t, will those songs transfer? I also know that my movies aren’t in my Itunes on my computer, they are only on my Ipod, so can i put those on my new Ipod?

Nagesh answers:

I advise you to use this way. Really save time.

Go to http://ipod-tool.com and download the iPod to PC transfer software called Tansee iPod Transfer to help you backup all your iPod songs and videos.
The advantage lies in that it utilizes iPod’s internal database to display your iPod’s files instantly. That means, when you connect your iPod to PC, this program will automatically display all music/videos on your iPod. Once click “Copy” button, all files would be copied onto your selected folder on your PC.

Paul asks…

is it illegal to download off storage sites?

i know that downloading pirated movies and such is illegal via limewire and stuff.

But is downloading off torrents illegal? i heard from somewhere that downloading via torrents is not for some loophole.

Also downloading off storage sites like megaupload and rapidshare, are they illegal?

I been downloading tv shows off megaupload and im wondering if this activity is illegal…

Nagesh answers:

The question you have asked leads me to believe that you may be a person with ethics, so I would like to give you a little bit of information about uploading and downloading other people’s work without paying for it.

There are some sites that do allow free downloads of TV shows, old movies, and old books (these are mostly in the public domain, or the rights have been lost.) However, I don’t think Megaupload has the rights to these shows, so you may be downloading pirated shows.

If you go to a torrent site and you download a book, a movie, a song, or any thing else that is still under legal copyright, you are knowingly receiving stolen property. That is a crime in all states, and in most countries. If you never heard about the young people who are doing time for downloading from Napster, you must be very young.

But what most folks don’t really hear much about is that the people who upload copyrighted materials to sites like Demonoid, 4Shared, Mediafire, Astaslatalk, and hundreds of other “sharing” sites are committing the federal crime of copyright infringement by offering copyrighted work to others, without permission from, or remuneration to, the creators.

This might not make much sense to you, but if you write books, or create hot music, or make a fabulous movie, you are creating something that is for the entertainment of others. Most writers don’t make enough income off their books to pay their bills every month. If they lose even 500 book sales to a pirate, that is money they can’t use to feed their kids or put gas in the car. Not all writers make 5 or 6 figure incomes off their books. Not every author is like Stephen King or Nora Roberts. (By the way, Steve and Nora have people in their employ to track down pirate sites and sue the pants off the owners and uploaders).

Most of us would not think of walking into a store and jamming several CD’s or books into our pockets and walking out. Downloading a book or a song or a movie is theft, plain and simple. And the penalties for being caught will not be a $50 fine for shoplifting and a suspended sentence. Judges are coming down with penalties of many thousands of dollars, and many months in prison for those who are routinely uploading and downloading copyrighted material. Your IP addresses can be tracked. You are NOT “invisible” when on the Internet. A housewife in the USA uploaded 1,700 copyrighted books to a sharing site, and is now spending five years in prison while her little kids are living with relatives. When she gets out, she will be paying fines of a quarter million, plus she will have to reimburse every single book to the copy right holders (and there were many thousands of downloads of her uploaded books).

A 17 year old boy is facing a year in juvenile detention and then about five more years in prison after he turns 18 for “sharing” 3,000 songs and movies on several sites.

Is it worth it to jeopardize your future over a $5.00 book or a $10.00 CD?

Make certain that the material you are downloading is not under copyright before you download it. The law doesn’t allow leeway for people who “didn’t know” the item was copyrighted. The law expects you to know. So please…be considerate of the copyright holders, and be careful so that you don’t end up facing charges for downloading pirated materials.

How can i get more space on my compaq?

I got a compaq pc in 2003 or 2004 and my pc is starting to get slow is there anyway i can prevent it. And by the way i already used th recovery system thing. THANKS IN ADVANCE

Nagesh answers:

1. Newer programs are more “power hungry” than older versions of the same programs. They will take up more hard disk space and more RAM when they are running. This includes Windows itself. Ignore this fact when it comes to Windows itself and keep Windows updated, using Windows Update (or Windows Live Update, or setting Windows to do Automatic Updates).

2. Viruses, worms, trojan horses, and other types of malware can slow down your computer. Keep your antivirus program up to date. Most computers only come with a trial version of Norton or McAfee anti-virus (expires in 60 or 90 days, typically), or another anti-virus product. You must pay for a renewal or buy the latest version (either of which will give you 1 more year). There are also free anti-virus programs available (some are better than others). Get an anti-spyware program too. These are also available in commercial/retail, shareware (try before you buy), and freeware versions of varying quality.

3. Defragment (“optimize”) your hard disk drive (your “C:” drive). After using your computer for even a few minutes, your files start to be saved in pieces scattered around your hard drive. After years of use, it may be very bad. Your computer will take longer to hunt down and open all the scattered pieces of your files (and programs) than if they were all in contiguous blocks. See # 5 below on how to get to the defragmenter. After the disk drive properties window comes up, click on the “Tools” tab at the top of the page, then click on the “Defragment Now” button. Follow the instructions, forcing it to go through if it says that only a small percentage of the drive is fragmented. Don’t force it if the error is something else – fix the error first.

4. Take your computer to your favorite computer/electronics store and ask them to upgrade the RAM (one of several types of memory in a computer). This is one of the most cost-effective ways of speeding up a computer. Look up your computer’s model number online at Compaq’s web site and find out how much RAM it came with and what is the maximum it can take. Also, check the speed and type of memory (SDRAM, DDR-RAM, DDR2, RAMBUS, etc.). Don’t let the store try to sell you more memory than your computer can use. There is 1 caveat… If your computer has only 2 slots for RAM and both are already occupied, you will have to buy larger memory modules (up to the maximum your computer can take) and swap them out.

5. If you’re downloading lots of songs, pictures, and/or movies, and/or installing lots of programs (including games), you may be running out of hard disk space too. Open “My Computer” and look for the C: drive. Assuming you’re right-handed, right-click (use the secondary mouse button) on the C: drive. A menu should drop down. On the menu, click (a normal, single click) on “Properties.” This should open a window with several tabs at the top. The first page should be showing a pie graph of your hard disk drive. Look at the total size, used space, and free space. If you’ve used more than 70 – 80% of the hard disk drive space, start looking for a bigger hard disk drive. If you have less than 1 Gigabyte of free space left, go get a new, bigger hard disk drive pretty quickly!
