Your Questions About Where Can I Download Old Movies

Richard asks…

can i make digital copys of films i already own?

i have a bunch of older movies id love to put on my iphone, but don’t have the digital versions of them. since i already own them, i don’t want to buy the digital version. is there anyway i can make my own?

Nagesh answers:

In many countries, copyright is also subject to fair-usage law. What this means is that if you were to purchase a DVD, the copyright will say that you are not allowed to copy it. However, fair usage law would say that it was reasonable for you to make a working backup of that DVD so that you can keep the original safe from harm. It would also say that it was reasonable to put this copy on your iphone. It would not allow you to sell the copies that you have made or to share the file in any way shape or form. It can be argued that it is reasonable to download a film that you already own the DVD to. After all, the industry are not losing any revenue because you are not likely to purchase a film that you already own. Of course, there are some that would not agree with me.

So whilst fair-usage laws do not apply in all countries, no one would know, unless you started over-stepping the boundaries.

There is a wealth of software available designed purely for what you want to do and a bit of searching on the net should provide you with a few alternatives to work through and see which one you like using.

What movie simple editor can I download onto a Visa machine that will recognize ipod videos?

My kid has downloaded lots of ipod made videos onto our MS Visa PC but cannot edit them in MS Movie Maker; it will not recognize the format. What do you recommend that a .12 year old can use easily? Thanks.

Nagesh answers:

IPod video is mp4 video. You may try this Video Editor, it’s a nice video editing software that can help you edit, join, split, trim, crop, convert and cut video, it build-in video code that supports mp4 video. My friends recommend it to me, it’s easy to use and works pretty well for me, it embeds many special effects, you can even put a video inside a video. I had made a video with it and the video got award, that’s pretty cool. Here is the free download link.

Michael asks…

Is there software that I could download or purchase to burn a dvd in about 30 minutes?

I have to wait atleast two hours for my dvd to get burned. I‘m wondering if there is software I can buy and download, or just downloading without having to buy a new dvd burner.

Nagesh answers:

Depends how you’re burning and what your’e burning

if you dragged over a movie, the burner needs to convert it to dvd format
if it’s already in DVD format or just data you’re burning, you can increase the speed of the burn unless your drive or dvd’s are super slow/old
