The latest versions of Direct3D, namely, Direct3D 10 and Direct3D 9Ex, are exclusive to Windows Vista.
To know which version of direct x is installed in your pc, Click the “Start” button, select “Run” in the Start Menu, then type in “dxdiag”. This launches the DirectX Diagnostic Utility.The DirectX version should be stated at the bottom line of the “System Information”. If nothing happens, it probably means your system does not have DirectX . You can grab it FREE at this link:

If you are using windows xp, you should have direct x 9.0 c and if you are using windows vista, you should have direct x 10.0 in your system for better graphics and for better gaming experience.

ok guys i just bought my new laptop its an acer extensa 4220 i’ve got the spiderman2 game on it when i try to run it it says ” please enable direct3d acceleration, you can do this by starting dxdiag and enabling direct3d acceleration…..
i think i read somewhere on my laptop that it has directx 10,
im not sure of that so please check it out
so i downloaded directx august 2007 version and i unpacked and installed it but then when i entered the dxdiag it says that ive got directx 10 so i went to display and it said direct3d acceleration not available…….
guys please answer me
oh and there was never any viruses on it too

I’m guessing it means that your video card is not capable. What kind of card does it have in it?

Plan A : Checking your Directx Version.
First press START Menu > Choose Run > Type dxdiag > Press Enter > You will see your directx version.
Is your Directx Version is Directx 9.0c ??
If you don’t have a Directx 9.0c, that means you a previous Directx version.
Plan B : Install Directx 9.0c
The first step is that you must have a Windows XP CD.
So let’s get started, you must download Directx Edicator 2.0, Direct Happy Uninstall and the DirectX 9.0c Setup.You can download from here…

After downloading all those three, install Directx Happy Uninstall.After that, put your Windows XP CD into your PC.Open DirectX Eradicator, and it will restart you PC…..I think….=P.After restart, you will see another exe file to rollback your Directx version.Sorry the point is i did’nt remember the last time i install but who cares.When rollback thingy or something is done, open your DirectX Happy Unistall > Choose Install DirectX > It will ask you to get DirectX 9.0cSetup.So find your DirectX 9.0c file > Get in Directx 9.0c and choose DXSETUP.EXE and it will install perfectly fine.

How can I uninstall or replace Directx 9 with an older version?
Medieval 2 Total War, has a bug that will not allow me to install the game. Sometimes this bug is due to the Directx 9 EXE reading the same or newer version of the program.
I want to try to run an older version of Directx and see if that’s the problem I’m having.
If not, the problem is when I try to install the game it say it is not a valid Win32 application.
The problem isn’t DirectX after all, I need to try something else. Thanks for trying.

I have an old hp pavilion 752n computer and it doesnt have a great graphics card. It cant play americas army or combat arms. But it can play Grandchase. Gunz, and cod 1. What are some good games the i can “DOWNLOAD” that have directx or require directx.
