Your Questions About Directions

George asks…

Big time rush and One direction tour?

Is One direction preforming with Big time rush on August 14th at the Saratoga Preforming Arts center? I’ve looked on two different websites. One says that it’s cody simpson and the other says it’s One direction. I really need to know because my friend bought tickets and i only want to go if One direction is playing because obviously i’m a really big Directioner!!!!!!!

Nagesh answers:

One Direction and Big Time Rush tour is about coming to an end this Friday. So the one you probably read will be Cody Simpson. And One Direction’s going to be touring in Australia around that time

Ken asks…

unit vector direction?

find the unit vector that has the same direction as the vector below:
v = 4j

Nagesh answers:

Remember that j is itself a unit vector in the direction of the positive y-axis. So our vector v is in the same direction as j but has a length of 4. Thus the unit vector in the same direction as v is simply j.

Nancy asks…

direction cosine question?

What are the direction cosines of the axes Ox, Oy, Oz

many thanks

Nagesh answers:

Each axis has direction cosine 1 in its own direction, and 0 in the two perpendicular directions, so:

Ox: (1, 0, 0),
Oy: (0, 1, 0),
Oz: (0, 0, 1).

Maria asks…

Conventional electric current direction?

Why we should take the electric current direction opposite to the electron flow direction.

Nagesh answers:

Peter K is correct.

Before finding that electrons are the current carriers, it was thought that positive charges are the current carriers and the direction of positeve cahrges was taken to the direction of current.

Till today we take the direction of positive charges as the direction of current.

That is if electrons flow from one point to another point , then the current is said to be opposite to this direction.
