Your Questions About Firefox

Betty asks…

How can download firefox without getting rid of my internet explorer?

I downloaded firefox and i removed it because everytime i download it it gets rid of my internet explorer and i need them both.

So how could i download firefox with it not getting rid of my internet explorer?
can you give me a link of where or how?

Nagesh answers:

Hi there,

if you go to www.firefox.com you can download the web browser from there. Downloading and installing this will not remove IE, however firefox may ask to be your default browser. It is ok for this to be the default if you plan to use Firefox more than IE. Once installed both will be on your system and can be used simultaneously if need be.

Good Luck,

Thanks!

How does firefox compare to google chrome?

I heard that firefox is really secure, but is google chrome the same?

Thanks.

Nagesh answers:

I’ve used just about every browser from IE to opera. Firefox to chrome. I’d say that in my opinion chrome is slightly better then firefox. Browser aren’t 100 % dependent on how fast they are them self’s it also depends on your processor and broadband speed. I’m running vista on a single core with 512 MB. I have found that both browsers are good but both have bad things and good things about them. Firefox is fast but i think chrome can be faster at times but there isn’t much difference. In terms of extensions (addons) Firefox has loads more than chrome. Although chrome has a simple interface and simple tasks like bookmarking are easier to do. So if you want a fast browser with loads of addons then i suggest Firefox. If you want a slightly faster browser but not so many addons then get chrome. If you don’t really care about addons but like a fast browser then i suggest opera (it has widgets instead of addons). In terms of security they none of them really helps in tht area so i suggest getting avira a free anti virus if you haven’t already. But Firefox will check for viruses when downloading i believe chrome does the same. But its up to you. BTW chrome and Firefox have a add-on called WOT which tells you if you can trust a website or not. I hope this helps 🙂

Nagesh answers:

1. If you’re using Firefox 3, it could be the phishing filter.
2. If you’re using Microsoft Live OneCare it could be one of the constant scanning files.

David asks…

How do I know a particular Firefox add on is a malware or not?

Is there any way to confirm whether a particular add on for Firefox is a malware or not? How to figure out that? I want to install adblock Plus and noscript add ons but before that can anybody please help me clarify my doubt?

Nagesh answers:

Mozilla (Firefox’s creators) review most add-ons, and will remove them immediately if there’s any threat to privacy or security. You’ll see on the add-on’s page if it hasn’t been reviewed, and both Ad-Block and Noscript have been reviewed. I use Ad-Block myself, and it hasn’t done anything suspicious in the entire time I’ve used it.

Mandy asks…

Is it dangerous to download a firefox extension like power search tool?

Firefox at first didn’t allow the plug in to be installed, because it said that the plug in did not provide secure updates.

Nagesh answers:

Firefox does that as a precaution, as Mozilla does not guarantee your security. But there will be one in million that is dangerous. Be open. Download as many as you want.
