Daniel asks…
Is anyone a Direct Buy member? I just want to know if they carry the brands I want before the sales pitch.?
I am looking at Ashley bedroom furniture sets (B668 and B697). Before I commit to the Direct Buy sales pitch & fee, I was wondering if someone would be kind enough to tell me if they carry what I am looking for & perhaps ballpark figures for pricing?
Thanks. C

Has anyone bought anything from ‘Direct Buy’?
I need to refurnish my home and I was considering going to a Direct Buy showroom to see what I can find. Has anyone bought anything from there and do you really save that much money?
Nagesh answers:
My parents own a direct buy membership in Alberta, Canada. Firstly..the staff are really friendly and its a very comfortable atmosphere. My parents recently built a house and got almost all there building and decorating from direct buy including hardwood, windows, couches etc etc. They saved TONS of money, its honestly no scam. You have to do your research first tho… Like know what product you want then go in there and order it or just compare prices..you will find prices are anywhere from 80-20% off at direct buy. You also have to wait for shipping so take that into consideration. I use my parents membership so im not sure on the price but I think its a few thousand to register. Really pays off if you buy enough..like if you plan to redecorate or building a home. If you go to a showroom they can give you a tour and tell you more about it. I really reccomend it..but not if its just for one couch! I just bought a furnace from direct buy… The installers quoted me $1000, I got it for $300…thats an example. If you want more info email me!
Paul asks…
How do I get out of a contract that I signed yesterday to direct buy? I’m in New York State.?
I signed a contract with Direct Buy or UCC yesterday and now I want to get out of it. I have been reading lots of articles and realize that it is not for me. I felt like I was pushed in to making a quick decession. Please Help!!
Nagesh answers:
Two ways I know:
– if your state, or else the contract, allows a cooling-off period, then just invoke that. Beware it may be only 24 or 48hrs. It depends largely on the type of good or service (a house? Cable TV?)
– otherwise, if you find something in the contract which is different/misleading/not what you were verbally told, you can try to void the contract due to misrepresentation.
Either way, get it in writing to them as fast as possible.
And stop the payments.
And ask the other people how they cancelled theirs.
Joseph asks…
What is the time on a contract you have to change your mind after signing?
I signed a Direct buy contract and in it it stated there was no 72 hr time limit to change your mind and cancel it? I am pretty sure in Tx. there is a 72 hr period in which a person can cancel ay contract. Is this true?
Nagesh answers:
Boy, they’re really tying you down, aren’t they! Usually you have 24 hrs to review a contract unless specified (you probably need a lawyer on this). You may be able to challenge it, but you should have brought it up before signing. I wonder what they would have done if you crossed it out? On some agreements if you cross out and initial certain parts, it will be omitted.
