Your Questions About Firefox

Steven asks…

How do I stop firefox from warning me with certain trusted sites?

I recently deleted firefox and downloaded it again and now a trusted website I used to use many times ( requires login) has now been labelled as insecure. Firefox gives the message that the connection to the site is insecure.

The URL is exactly the same as before.

What could be the problem?

Thanks.

Nagesh answers:

Seem that you are going to web sites that are know hackers Virus givers and trogan hose people haters.
.
FirFox is just trying to protect your computer
.
If you don’t want that protection down load Googles browser
.
But be sure you have a good virus program installed and it is updated.
.
Even then you still might trash your computer if the virus or Trojan is to new and they have not got an Update on it yet
.
So if you don’t like your computer
.
Don’t use FireFox
.

How do IE and Firefox make money? Where is the revenue source coming in from?

How do Microsoft and the owners of Firefox make money? Google is planning to create a browser also to compete with them called “chrome”. I was wondering where does the source of revenue come in? There are no ads, etc. These programs are free.

Nagesh answers:

Microsoft makes money (obviously) by selling their software and having a big monopoly on the desktop. Firefox does it by “advertising” Google by having the search bar. Firefox is open source, so much of the work done to make it was done for free by people who wanted to contribute, making it much easier to support financially.

Firefox / internet does not work but internet connection is excellent?

I use firefox and some nights at 12:00 exactly or 12:30 exactly, firefox stops working and does not load a page. The internet connection is perfectly fine though because it says excellent. I am connected to a home router and the signal strength is always excellent. I do not know why this happens at exactly 12:00 or 12:30 on my desktop time but it’s a pain. I’ve tried “ping”ing and everything looks fine.

Nagesh answers:

Ummm……., try uninstalling and installing firefox again. That might clear it up.

How to I install old Firefox version, when it always updates automatically to new?

I want to use an older version of Firefox because I don’t like 4.0. I have the verson I want, but when I install it, it will always automatically update to 4.0. How can I just download the older version without it updating?

Thank you.

Nagesh answers:

There are two ways of doing this:

First one is to uninstall your firefox 4 and reinstall firefox 3/3.6 whichever version you prefer and disable the Automatic Software Update.

1. Click “Tools”, selecting “Options”.

2. When the “Options” dialog box appears, click “Advanced”.

3. Click the “Update” tab.

4. Underneath “Automatically check for updates to”, uncheck “Firefox”, “Installed Extensions and Themes”, and/or “Search Engines”, as desired.

5. Click “OK” to close the dialog box.’

Second option:
Download a portable firefox app. I am including a link to Firefox ver. 3.6
