Robert asks…
what are the differences between Dish Satalite and Direct TV,what are you statisfied,or dissatistfied?
i used to have Direct Tv,and was wandering what the differences are, what you liked about them, and didn’t like about their service?Any suggestions?
Nagesh answers:
I have subscribed to both – Dish now, and Direct TV in the past. Dish is pretty good, but their programming lineup is way too heavy on sports – I dont usually watch sports. Also, local channel picture quality is not good due to their choice to over-compress the feeds. HDTV coverage is good – but you need two antennas pointed in different directions.
DirectTV (from my experience 5 or so years ago) was generally good, but that was before HDTV and digital cable service, both of which have superior picture quality over satellite. Both are susceptible to signal fades during rain.
Bottom line: If you have the option of digital cable service, use it because the picture quality will be best. If not available then either of the satellite providers are OK – and programming lineup might be the biggest factor to consider.

How to get digital antenna to work with Direct TV?
We recently got Direct TV but we are unable to get local channels in my area. We have the NFL package but can’t watch nationally televised games. We bought a digital antenna by RCA. We can’t get it to work though. None of our tvs are digital but if we hook it through the Direct TV box it should be able to work. But it doesn’t. We have a digital tv as our computer monitor and tried to use it but it wouldn’t work either. And we don’t have the remote. Any ideas on how to fix this before the game tomorrow?

That other dude that answered was kind of a dick dude – anyways all you need to do is go to wal-mart or something like that and get a DTA box. It’s one of those digital converters and they’re like $25 I think. You’ll also need a switch if you are using the coaxial cable to connect your Direct TV to your TV. You can’t run the digital antenna through their box, it’s a gay thinng they did due to DVR and unlicensed television channels. So if you’ve get the DTA box and put it in between the TV and the Antenna you will get a great reception and it will work like a champ.

How hard is the credit check for direct tv?
My fiancee really wants to get Direct Tv – but it says “up to credit approvial” – our credit isnt the greatest. Anyone have any idea how tough it is to pass the “test” lol!
Nagesh answers:
Depends.. We dont have “great credit” but have direct tv.. We called our phone company and got the deal that they have… The best thing you can do is call and see what they tell you.. Sometimes they ask for a deposit and if you can pay it do it… Or try the dish network.

Can you still get direct tv if you live in the woods?
My husbands friend is telling him direct tv can not pick up a signal if you live in the woods, well my dad lives in the boondocks of Maine and he has direct tv, I am trying to prove him wrong! Im pretty sure you still can get signal, what do you think or know?
Nagesh answers:
I was told you can get satellite tv anywhere as long as the view to the southern sky is unobstructed, and we are surrounded by trees here and have no problem with our Direct TV, same with internet high speed service you can also get through a dish, for those rural living people.
