I cannot account for Shaw as such, but DSL is almost universally “contended”, sometimes as high as 40:1 – which means 40 homes are connected to the same Internet connection further up the link (either in the road where the hub is, or at the central exchange).

Let’s assume a 2Mbps link to all homes, if all 40 homes tried to download something at the same time then this will drop to 50Kbps, almost the speed of an old dial-up modem!

If you had the password saved so netflix logged in automatically yes , the thief could access it , but that’s easy to stop = just iuse your pc and log in on netflix.com and change the password and any other info you feel might have been compromised
anytime you have a pc , game console or any other device that stores passwords or has personal information on it you need to go to any sites that you used on the device and change passwords .
Call nintendo too if your wii had been registered and anything downloaded from the shop channel because your account is on that console and nintendo will have to remove it and deactivate that console from their online shop
who knows what kind of person eventually got the wii , someone dishonest for sure and maybe an identity thief who will use any personal info on it to commit a crime like fraud or get a bank account in your or a parents name and get into serious debt .

Be safe and cancel anything that you feel may not be safe , might even want to cancel the credit card that was used for netflix just to be safe .
