Can jailbreak in any way spoil a ps3 wether during installing or wrong installation?

Yes , if the jail break is not installed properly it will corrupt the ps3 system software files and make the console unusable , and if you try to jail break a ps3 that is at system software version 3.56 or later it will brick your ps3 – there is no way to jail break a ps3 that has been updated to later versions , you’ll find a lot of fake ones online but if you try to install them depending on what jail break and what fw version the ps3 has installed it will either make the ps3 go into a loop that continually goes to 99% installed and not be able to finish or your ps3 will get a password screen on it and ask for a password to start the system ( hint , there is no password , it’s a scam to brick your ps3 )
people get their ps3’s ruined when they jail break them , they lose the warranty and can’t sell them legally and nobody will buy one usually since it can’t play any of the best games or play online games .
You also lose most of the ps3 features and limit play to only older games and movies , no game made since mid 2010 will be playable as they all require later fw versions that 3,55 , and no blu-ray movies will play as they also have encryption keys that need to be updated on the ps3 to play them .
You lose all online features including online game play , playstation store access , psn access , trophy synch , friends , netflix , hulu plus , ps home etc. And can not download game update patches , dlc or update the ps3 anymore .
Basically a jail broken ps3 allows you to steal older games ( still need a legit copy to copy to the ps3 hard drive ) but those games are going to be 2 years old or older and be cheap anyway now to buy them so you save very little , get to play only old games and lose all online play – it’s not worth your effort or time .

I know its illegal to make torrents, but can you be prosecuted for downloading them.?
Well i have currently found torrents, and from my knoledge its illegal to make them. But is it legal to download them and have them. Will you get prosecuted.

It is illegal to download torrents, there are ways to get caught and they could prosecute if they find enough evidence but most likely they will not narrow it down to the small guys wanting 1 or two movies for free.
I once read this story about an old woman being charged for her grand children downloading thousands of songs for free online. The case was later dropped after 3 months of court but just shows how far these copyrighted companies will go to stop this.
