What apps should I get for my Samsung Galaxy S2?

I just got an AT&T Samsung Galaxy S2 and this is the first time I have ever had a smartphone or android. I have been searching on Google for apps but much of it is outdated, such that old “tweaks” or apps are already incorporated into the latest Galaxy S2. What are some good/must have apps for entertainment and better yet, productivity or phone management (stuff that keeps the phone running smooth). Thanks.

Nagesh answers:

Good and free android apps, also dont get task killer- on the new android phones they end up killing the battery.

“double twist” sync your itunes songs to your android
“Drop box”- move files wirelessly from your pc to your phone
“Unified remote”- use your android as remote for your computer- play movies, view your files, etc.
“YouTube mate”- download YouTube videos(sometinge gets rmoved from market, you can google it though)
“IP webcam”- use your phone/tablet as a webcam
“Algeo”- a scientific/graphing calculator similar to a TI 89
“Adao file manager”- manage your phones files
“tv. Com” watch tv programs using wifi
“tune in radio”- listen to the radio….
“Where’s my droid”- never lose your phone/tablet again, just send it your attention word and the volume maxes out and even receive its location on gps
“go keyboard- my personal favorite keyboard (try the black or iphone theme for it)”

free android games- this also depends on how good your phone is, some of the lower end phones cant use them (mine isnt that great)

lane splitter- traffic racing
death worm (demo)- play as a giant worm and terrorize people
asphalt 5- high graphics racing game
angry birds- it think you know….
Dragon fly- like the iphones version of tiny wings
atilt labyrinth- guide a ball through a maze by titling your phone
winds of steel (demo)- flying shooting game
Jet car stunts

How do you download music from websites?

I have a MP3 player and I just got it and I have no idea how to work the darn thing.I want to download music safely and for FREE.How do I do this?

Nagesh answers:

There are quiet a few ways to get music off the Internet. I won’t go into the legalities of all of them. Obviously, if you are getting someones copyrighted material without paying, then that’s probably not legal.

There are services that you can use to get music that WILL pay the artists who created the songs. The most popular are probably…

Apple iTunes -> http://www.itunes.com
Napster -> http://www.napster.com
and even WalMart -> http://www.walmart.com/swap/SwapEntry.do?dslURL=/swap/LoadMain.do%3FmainCategoryId%3D2500

All of these services will sell you songs between .85 and $1.00 per song or so.

There are quite a few services advertised on Clickbank that make the promise that for a one time membership fee, you can download an unlimited number of songs. Here are those services. I cannot attest to how well they work, so research them by visiting them…

Movie Downloads.com -> http://watersaffl.movies01.hop.clickbank.net?tid=YAHOOANS

I have had good luck finding music on BitTorrent sites. BitTorrent is an Internet protocol for moving very large files. It’s not the same as P2P (limewire and such), but it relies on other users in the BitTorrent community leaving their music files available. I have often been frustrated by downloading a song or album only to find that after it downloads 95%, it stops because not enough BitTorrent seeders have kept the files available. The upside to BitTorrents are that they download extremely fast!

You’ll need a BitTorrent client to download torrents. I use Azureus. It’s a free and very nice client application that you can get here…
Http://azureus.sourceforge.net/

You’ll also need a few BitTorrent tracker sites. Here are a few to get you started…
TorrentSpy -> http://www.torrentspy.com/
The Pirates Bay -> http://thepiratebay.org/
ISO Hunt -> http://isohunt.com/
MiniNova -> http://www.mininova.org

Finally, I have had great luck finding unknown artists by using an NNTP News Server. NNTP is an old Bulletin Board type of protocol. NNTP means Network News Transport Protocol. But the NNTP community has evolved into about 50,000 different ‘channels’ that cover every imaginable subject and there is a way to ‘encode’ binary files to place them on these NNTP groups. For music, music is grouped into different ‘genres’. For example, I download Jazz and Reggae from two different channels. It is not easy to find any particular song or artist, so I just download everything in a group and often find songs and artists that I’ve never heard of before.

To download music from NNTP groups, you’ll need a News Reader. There are some free ones out there. I use this one…

Well, that ought to keep you busy for a while! Good luck!

How can I get songs off my ipod 3g 3dgb with 3.1.2 software on to my laptop?

I forgot to move my songs to my new laptop from my old one. So now if I sync my ipod on my new laptop all my songs will disappear, and I will have to download them all over again. I have got rid of my old laptop now though. Is there any way I can get the songs that are on my ipod at the moment on to the new laptop.

Nagesh answers:

Why do people assume that the ipod is a music backup system – its NOT!

The iPod touch does NOT have disk mode so drag and drop and non apple utilities don’t work (use itunes> Transfer Purchases or iPhone Exploreer {it does work on the ipod as well).

The Master files are on the computer in the itunes library and you really need to back these up directly or copy them onto the new PC its in”My DocumentsMy MusiciTunes”

you CAN Transfer PAID music and apps by logging into your itunes store account and authorising your computer (via the store menu) BEFORE plugging in the ipod then selecting Transfer purchases form the pop-up or the File Menu. However this will ONLY transfer BOUGHT music and APPS and not the imported stuff

The ipod is a SLAVE device to ONE itunes only although itunes can have many ipods. When you PAIR an iPod with a computer it erases all songs on it!!! And deletes pairing with original computer.

Sharing Copyrighted material such as Movies or Music is also illegal!

You cannot transfer music from an ipod to itunes as Itunes is the MASTER location of the music files. If you NEED to transfer music form your ipod to the computer as you have lost the original you need a 3rd party application (I use Yamipod for mac and ipod classic but iPhone explorer for the Touch models) but a whole range can be found on www.versiontracker.com and enter ipod transfer in the search box under your operating system.

Music transfer programs will ONLY work with MUSIC and NOT iPod touch apps.. You will need to download these again but once you have bought an app re-downloading it is also free no matter how much the original app cost!

I suggest copying the contents of the “iTunes Music” folder on your old computer onto the new one by USB hard disk, USB Flash memory or DVD-r

once you have the utility installed run it and close itunes! Connect the ipod (if itunes starts up and asks if you want to pair say NO and close itunes again). Then with the utility transfer the songs form the ipod to your hard disk.

Then disconnect the ipod, START itunes… Drop the files you have just transferred onto the itunes Library and once the files have been copied into the library you can delete the originals (NEVER MOVE or touch the itunes folder on your computer otherwise you will lose the music let itunes manage it for you).

Now reconnect the ipod and when it asks pair say YES and it will transfer the music to your computer.

If doing this with 2 computers you have to do this on both!!

Susan asks…

How do I change computers for my itouch?

My laptop is old and is really slow and now i want to be able to sync my itunes to my mac. I can get all the songs again (cd’s) but can i just start syncing to my mac or do i have to like unauthorize my old computer? THANKS FOR THE HELP!

10 points to best answer!

Nagesh answers:

Never plug in your iPod to a different computer than the one you normally use. It will erase everything. I would just back up your iTunes library onto a USB or some type of hard drive, transfer the library to your new computer, and then when you plug in your iPod to your Mac, the “new” library will replace the existing one in your iPod (while you won’t lose anything because it’s the same library). You can have up to 5 different computers authorized at a time, but that doesn’t apply to syncing. Authorizing a computer just means you allow certain music/tv shows/movies that you’ve downloaded to be played on multiple computers.
