WHY DO MUSICIANS PUT MUSIC ON YOUTUBE BUT DOWNLOADING MUSIC IS ILLEGAL?
Musicians/artists/songwriters have music videos on youtube for the world to see and some get millions of views. Why is downloading music illegal then? Like what is the difference between the two? I don’t get why downloading music is illegal?!? Someone please answer!! thanks!

There are diferent types of artists out there.
A few examples.
There are artists out there who really dont have any talent, they are trained coached and sold off to the media through radio stations TV, etc, record companies keep 99% of the profits and they want the music to stay off of the internet.
There are artists who are against, Suing 90 year old grandma for watching a movie and her 7 year old grandson for downloading a song and then deleting it 23 hours later, so they put their music out there and hope people will see the talent in them.
Just 2 examples, so if you see a group with Talent, who apeal to the right and wrong you believe in, then DO PLEASE go buy their music.
On the flipside if you see a group has no talent and want nasty things to happen to people who download their song, please, dont buy their music and tell your friends to never buy their music.

I am not sure whether to do an upgrade or a clean install.Does it make a difference? I like clean install over upgrade path. Get rid of all the old windows junk that is left behind when you do upgrade path. First, you backup your computer to an external hard drive – remember the name that it uses. Unplug the external drive
Then install the new OS using the Windows disk. After you have finished installing Win 7, go to the control panel and tell it you want to restore. Now you need that name that I told you to remember. It will download all your pics, songs and documents and you will be running win7.

I don’t have an MP3 player yet, and it seems like a great way to obtain music to download it from the web. But – when you’re not asked to pay for it, isn’t that piracy?

There are quiet a few ways to get music off the Internet. I won’t go into the legalities of all of them. Obviously, if you are getting someones copyrighted material without paying, then that’s probably not legal.

I have had good luck finding music on BitTorrent sites. BitTorrent is an Internet protocol for moving very large files. It’s not the same as P2P (limewire and such), but it relies on other users in the BitTorrent community leaving their music files available. I have often been frustrated by downloading a song or album only to find that after it downloads 95%, it stops because not enough BitTorrent seeders have kept the files available. The upside to BitTorrents are that they download extremely fast!
You’ll need a BitTorrent client to download torrents. I use Azureus. It’s a free and very nice client application that you can get here…

Finally, I have had great luck finding unknown artists by using an NNTP News Server. NNTP is an old Bulletin Board type of protocol. NNTP means Network News Transport Protocol. But the NNTP community has evolved into about 50,000 different ‘channels’ that cover every imaginable subject and there is a way to ‘encode’ binary files to place them on these NNTP groups. For music, music is grouped into different ‘genres’. For example, I download Jazz and Reggae from two different channels. It is not easy to find any particular song or artist, so I just download everything in a group and often find songs and artists that I’ve never heard of before.
To download music from NNTP groups, you’ll need a News Reader. There are some free ones out there. I use this one…

It seems difficult to restore your music back to the new downloaded iTunes directly.
Yet, if the music on your old computer are all placed on your iPod/iPhone, you can use the iPod/iPhone to computer transfer program to transfer those music/videos back to computer and then add to your iTunes library.
