Your Questions About Download Old Movies Online

Mark asks…

How good is the Netflix online selection?

I just canceled my cable TV. I think that On-line steaming Netflix can be as good as my old cable TV but I’m not sure about that.So my question is …
What type of movies are in the Netflix on-line service?
Where can I check all the list of those movies without applying for the Netflix?
Can anybody give me and example of 4 or 5 great movies on Netflix online service?
Thank you : )

Nagesh answers:

I did the same thing a few months ago and have been using Netflix Watch Now. The selction is mostly older or ‘B’ movies but they do have classics and some newer ones. I watched ‘…Spotless Mind’ a while ago. They also have History Channel Docs and other special interest videos. There is a great search by category and genre feature and the movie quality is better than any other download or streaming source I have found. I have unlimited movies for $16.99/month and I also get 3 DVD’d at a time. In Atlanta, I get the movies in about 2 days turn around time. I think it is worth it.

If you find someplace better, let me know. I also rent on-line at Movielink. Great quality but takes a little while (20 mins or so) to download. I cain’t wait until the networks start broadcasting on the internet.

How much money should I need as initial capital to start up a video rental business in a small town.?

Where should I get the movies, what movies should I get (only new releases or have a large quantity of older movies), should I get into video games right off the bat, etc.. I plan to open it in a small town in Honduras where there is no other business like it. Thanks for your suggestions.

Nagesh answers:

People are not renting videos in rental stores anymore, they are downloading them online through their cable and DSL hookups. Even in small towns.

Why would you set up a business that is going to fail by the time you invest in it?

What are some cheaper alternatives to textbooks for homeschooling?

Not interested in online schooling.
Or,, is there anywhere to buy used textbooks for cheaper? Thanks

Nagesh answers:

You can find used textbooks online. I always start with bookfinder.com which list them from a lot of sources including used on Amazon.
Libraries have ebooks, even textbooks. We used a biology one last year. You download it, and it is yours to keep.
Look on Amazon and when you find the text, see if there is an older edition. You can usually find one a few years older than the schools use, for a few dollars! Then match up workbooks and teacher guides available used (unused though!).
Or don’t use textbooks at all. Read a novel and write essays, contrast them to the movie, take quizzes you find online. Do hands-on science experiments and demonstrations.
If you want a foreign language try livemocha or our library has Mango.
History can be non-fiction from the library, or archeology magazines.
There are some fun ones on universalclass.com. Don’t pay for the certificate, there is an option not to and it is cheaper. You can sign up for an entire year of unlimited classes for 189.00.

How to entertain a nine year old little girl?

Because it’s summer break, I’ve been asked to babysit this little nine year old i go to church with from 6:30am, to 7:30pm for a week straight. I’ve kept her before and she’s very cooperative, but hates watching movies, or tv, and cant stand to sit still. Her parents don’t want us to leave the neighborhood just for safety reasons and I’m kinda lacking for stuff to do. Any suggestions?

Nagesh answers:

Have a casual schedule, just a list of things to try to follow, but don’t stress her out. You could ask the parents to buy her a Tae Kwan do DVD to learn at your house, since they don’t want you to leave the neighborhood. She needs to get exercise and fresh air every day, so take her to the park. Or practice a sport in your yard, such as volleyball or gymnastics. You could let her keep a box of stuff at your place. As you water your lawn in the morning, let her run around the sprinkler (on days she wants to bring her bathing suit). You could let her spend an hour playing online games as a treat if she finishes her fruit or vegetable with lunch.

Ask her parents if she has a webkinz stuffed animal that comes with a code for a free online account. They’re really popular, she probably has one. She could easily play with that virtual pet online for an hour, because you can get out of your chair and go back to the different virtual chores. The pets do lots of things from enter modeling contests to gardening. It also has a safe chat room with preselected phrases to say.

Also, 9 year olds like to cook and create hair styles. They like to sing. If she has an ipod, you can spend time downloading songs with her. You could make friendship bracelets, too. Good luck.
