Your Questions About Download Movies Legal

Ruth asks…

Is it legal to save a video – movie (not download) after it is fully buffered using Divix?

Just so you know I have not saved a movie.

When streaming a movie using Divix once fully buffered you have the option to “save video as” so you can watch it later etc… to store it on your pc. Is this legal? Is it the same as downloading?

Nagesh answers:

Legal? Nope. Same as downloading? Yep. Especially if you have watched the movie on one of those streaming movie sites that you know are illegal. The watching alone is illegal.

John asks…

Plz read details for more info!! How to download movies and shows so i can burn them to a dvd?

I have recently moved into my own apartment and am looking for ways to download that 70’s show, the simpson, family guy, and a bunch of other shows. But i don’t know where to go, i need a place that’s cheap and legal if its free that’s great. But yeah plz help with some ideas i have to be able to download them and then burn them to a dvd.

Nagesh answers:

You can download movies in divx quality and burn them onto a dvd player as a dvd cd or vcd. Finding shows like that 70’s show and what not will be tough at the free sites as they just stream in your browser. I signed up for software to download movies and TV shows through shared utopia, there simply wont be something you cant find.

The internet is a beautiful thing. You can also find a cd burning program online at CNET.com I believe or just use the windows default one.

Donna asks…

Is anybody for legal downloading of music and movies?

Is it just me or does anybody see something seriously wrong with downloading music and movies off the internet. I am talking about the legal way in which you buy it, like VOD for example. I guess this more applies to movies and less music. The problem is you don’t even own. Like VOD, you pay for it so you can watch it, but you can’t download it. You can’t save it, it’s not yours. Basically, you’re paying to rent it. iTunes is another thing. You pay for it, but still you don’t own it. Extremely difficult to put it onto a CD to play in your CD player. That is why I personally will always choose to buy these things in the store over downloading them. When I pay for a movie for example, like a DVD, I own that movie, as I should. The VOD thing makes no sense at all. Why a person would pay for that is beyond me. What is wrong with that picture?

Nagesh answers:

Personally, I hate watching movies or video on my computer. I’d much rather watch a movie in surround sound, on a big screen, rather than a teeny tiny computer screen.

Also, if your computer crashes, or they come out with a new version (as they do every week), then you’re collection is useless, and you have to start over.

Of course, the same can be said about dvd (which replaced VHS, so your VHS collection is now useless). But, give me a good old fashioned dvd with bonuses and awesome packaging any day.
