Lisa asks…
FedEx shipping way too expensive?
I wonder if the guy is trying to rip me off or is the shipping actually that expensive.
I bought a laptop from USA which weighs 10lbs and he is shipping to Europe, Estonia.
He ships with FedEx International Economy and the shipping fee is $135.
Thanks in advance.
Nagesh answers:
FedEx is expensive, so $135 would be correct! You have to realize that shipping costs are based on both weight and the size and shape of the package. I have had stuff shipped from US and UK to Australia and have paid close to $200 at times. FedEx is fast and safe. Have you considered any customs duties you might have to pay to import your computer? Don’t worry, if there are any taxes, FedEx will phone you and tell you how much and you can pay them by credit card and they’ll do the paperwork and then deliver your computer to you.

Standard delivery rate from Fedex?
I ordered something a week ago and the apparently shipped it on the 17th. I live in the UK and the parcel is shipped within UK. Its about 6kg. Does it usually take that long for Fedex to ship it?
Nagesh answers:
Fedex is actually connected with ANC.
Their fees don’t appear to be clearly on the website, it may be worth having a browse around, and login may be required.
If you have a tracking number, then you can find out exactly where the parcel is, the sender will definately have this information available for you.

What are our rights against FedEx?
Hi
I recently tried to encash my points from thankyounetwork and ordered a scanner. Thankyou network claims they shipped it using FedEx and FedEx claims they have delivered it. They even have a signature of a person who i dont even know. They claim to have delivered it to this person at my apartment. But i dont even know any body witht this name. I think Fedex made some mistae and now trying to hide it by showing me junk signatures of unknown people.
Please let me know my options in this case.
Thanks
Sumit
Nagesh answers:
Have you checked with your apartment office? FedEx usually doesn’t leave signature-required shipments at the office, but it can’t hurt to rule it out.
According to the FedEx website, the claims process goes like this:
* Complete and submit a claim form online at https://www.fedex.com/us/claimsonline or call 1-800-463-3339 to obtain a control number for your claim, then complete a printed copy of the claim form.
* Make photocopies of the FedEx® Airbill/FedEx Ship Manager printout and/or FedEx Ground Pick-up Record and all documentation related to the proof of value.
* Fax or mail your supporting documentation and completed claim form to:
FedEx
Cargo Claims Dept.
P.O. Box 256
Pittsburgh, PA 15230
Fax 1.877.229.4766
(If you fax your claim, you will receive a confirmation letter by return fax.)
After you have gone through the claims process, if things are still unresolved, you can take further action by filing a complaint against FedEx with your state attorney general’s office.

FedEx Smartpost delivery time?
I ordered some things online today (Friday) and they ship via FedEx Smartpost. Go long does this service usually take (California to Iowa) thanks
Nagesh answers:
Fedex smartpost starts off shipping through fedex, however the package will be transferred to the us postal service at some point, and your regular mail carrier will make the final delivery. It can be 2-3 days for your order to process before it even ships. It then might be 7 days before you get the package. Fedex smartpost is not a fast shipper. If they give you a tracking number you can track the progress and get a better estimate of the anticipated delivery date.
