Your Questions About Direct Tv Customer Service

Helen asks…

which is better Direct TV or another satelite service ?

Nagesh answers:

It all depends on what you are looking for. Dish Network and Directv are both good satellite companies with reasonable price packages so the choice is yours. FTA ( Free To Air) Satellite systems are ok and have thousands of channels to choose from but on the downside you would have to purchase the equipment yourself and install it yourself or pay an installer to install it for you.

Dish Network or Directv offers the equipment and installation for free as long as you sign a contract agreement to keep their service for a year or two. By choice I would choose Directv due to the fact that they have the hightest customer retention of the two companies.

Hope this helps

Mark asks…

Dish Network or Direct TV?

Just bought a house, and stay on topic. Don’t suggest another company because these are the only 2 options.

Thanks.

Nagesh answers:

Being the best is a matter of opinion. There are a few nice things DISH Network has to offer. We offer customer support on Yahoo Answers, Facebook, and Twitter. We also offer the lowest pricing in the industry, and are ranked number one in customer satisfaction among cable and satellite services with the A.C.S.I.. DISH Network also offers dual tuner receivers, which allows one receiver to run two separate rooms keeping equipment minimal and equipment fees low. We would be happy to add you to our family! Feel free to contact us with any questions you have regarding our service! You can also reach me via email at: daniel.busa@dishnetwork.com

Cancel Direct Tv?

Hi, I have direct tv install for the past 3 days and I hate it. Everything plays on east time zone. I want to know , are they going to charge a cancellation fee? If so, how much is it? Isn’t there a grace period? Any help is appericated.

Nagesh answers:

There is usually (not always) a 90 day period that they never tell you about unless you specifically ask. Your best bet is to call customer service and ask for a “Case Manager.” Don’t even bother with the regular customer service clowns. The “case manager” will have to call you back later, but they are the only ones who are helpful.

Direct TV – Sales and Customer Support Blew it?

With two weeks to go and an HD TV, I called Direct TV to sign up, hopefully in time for the Super Bowl Party at my house. Sales lady made a great deal, said “no problem” to install before game and probably that week. Then end of phone call she has MYSTERIOUS computer glitch and cannot tell me install date-“they will call to make appt.” No call and One week later (one week before the game) I call – after testy discussion, person #2 says person #1 was just “making the sale”, install appt WAS made -February 4th – the Mon. after the game. Huh. Forgetful or liar? I got mad ,demanded explanation. She put me on hold 30 min. and hung up on me. NICE. I called back and cancelled. After reading these posts, now I’m scared they ‘ll hit me with some cancellation charge? So here I am ratting them out. My TIVO works perfectly, My reliable Bellsouth fiber optic – out once in 15 years. No thanks, Direct. Anyone else have this one??

Nagesh answers:

DirecTV will not hit you with any cancellation charge. You never started service in the first place. The most you will see is a temporary $50 holding fee on your credit card but that will go away just the same as if you were to get the fee from a gas station.

I don’t think the appointment was ever scheduled in the first place. Here’s why: the company is changing their billing program over a little bit to include the ability to view service calls (including installations). It’s very confusing for someone who hasn’t used it for very long. When there’s a problem with the scheduling portion of the order it will schedule a default time of sorts, but the install window is completely messed up.

Sometimes the scheduling portion of the ordering system can have a glitch and the installers SHOULD call you within 48 hours. It’s terribly unfortunate that they didn’t.

What the second CSR you spoke to SHOULD have done is transferred you to a technical representative who could have easily gotten that straightened out for you.

Direct T.v. questions?

well I am thinking of switching to direct tv but had a few questions like is it better than dish? also I was just messing around their web site and it say’s first month will be $68.99 because I chose choice extra and on the offers it said it cost $34.99 everything else is free. I got 5 tvs and got all the receivers for free. which means i have to pay $99.00 for check out and $68.99 for first month. does this mean i will have to pay $68.99 every month or will it drop back down to $34.99? and will I have to pay for the receivers afterwards ? is there any catch any other that i have a 24 month contract. and what happens if i brake the contract?

Nagesh answers:

Im a disgruntled direct tv customer so ill warn you on what to expect. First off they offer you a sweet deal when you start including a host of premium channels free for 3 months including hbo, starz, showtime, etc. You pay $7 per reciever a month so with five it will be $35 + $30 for choice. It will equal around $65 a month for the first year not including hd/dvr or the protection plan fees. After the first year you will lose all your rebates and pay the full price so I suspect it will equal around $90-$100 a month not including extra services. I personally wouldnt recommend them unless you have the funds to support the 2nd year. Its not going to cheap so you may also be able to look into roku media players or google tv and sign up for hulu, netflix, crackle etc. May be able to save a few bucks aswell.
