Your Questions About Direct Tv Customer Service

Sandy asks…

Is Directtv still required to give you a shut off notice before shutting down your service?

My direct tv service got shut off on the 1st and I am trying ti dispute the amount of money they say I owe in addition to the fact that they never gave a shut off notice which I know they have had to give in the past, Of course when I try to call the number, they refuse to let you speak to anyone if they think you owe them. What I want to know is if it is still required to give a 15 day notice before disrupting your service?

Nagesh answers:

Yes. Either by mail, if that’s how you get your billing information. Or through your email, if you opted for paperless billing information.

If you need to dispute what you owe them, I am going to suggest that you go online and contact your local States General Attorney and file a complaint to him/her. I just went through a similar experience with DirectTV. Only the situation was reversed. They owed me money for over charges, and false representation of the services charges I’d receive when they re-upped me as a “win back customer”.

Needless to say it took less than a week to have upper management contact me and resolve the situation to my satisfaction.

Paul asks…

What is the best connections for TV and Internet? Not getting the full power of my server!?

I have had so called high speed cable internet connection for years and cable TV too. At first it was great. Not so great now. I live in a Suburb south of Chicago. What is better, Dish, or Direct TV and why? I am also wanting to go with a different internet. Yes, I will call everyone to see what is offered but they are sales people and only a few know what they are trying to sell. So I trust you. Some evenings I record 2 shows and watch a third. Can you do this on yours? So which service do you like? When it comes to internet, can you send and recieve photos and animations? – ( I use Incredimail).. I will choose my own programming, ( movie packages etc), just want to know about your service and quality of the service you are happy with. Customer service is important as well. The best picture is so important as we know as well as getting the full stereo sound. General Manager’s order’s only last so long, then they cut back. Too many folks on the same node for internet too. Thank you .

TV:
Direct TV satellite TV by far!
#1 reason quality communications very little downtime.
#2. Customer Service & technical support – superior! While I had many problems to solve initially, they were timely, efficient, and owned the problems as well as the solutions.
#3. Fair in pricing.
#4. Installation techs were respectful of me and my property.
#5 Mulltiple room packages available -yes, we record on one TV, I watch one, the cats watch the other one and my dear hubby watches the last one – all simutanieously!

Dish TV – HATED IT! We really gave it a chance – 6 months hoping it would get better – it didn’t.

Carol asks…

Is RNC any good for cable service in NYC?

My friend is freaking, because she had direct tv and is moving to a new apartment that won’t allow the Direct TV dish. She lives on the UWS, where her 2 choices are RCN or Time Warner. While I’m familiar with the devil that is TWC, I’ve heard some crap about RCN’s billing and customer service. How’s the internets and actual cable service?

Nagesh answers:

RNC promises things then won’t back it up. The service isn’t that good either.

Donna asks…

Direct TV has anyone had trouble with them?

I have had it with Direct TV I would just like to know if anyone else has moved and had trouble with billings. Also with understanding the customer service people everyone of them you can not understand.

Nagesh answers:

Not me!

I’ve had to call them several times to ping my card and I was on the phone for like 5 minutes each time. I also lost an LNB on my dish one Saturday and they sent a tech out on Sunday morning to fix it so I would not miss my NFL Sunday Ticket. I’ve had a great experience with them.

Mandy asks…

Can you use a previously owned direct tv box with your current service?

I was wondering if you could use someone elses direct tv box with my service? I am moving in with someone and we both have directv and it cost to cancel a service. He owns his box and I have leased mine and I was wondering if I returned mine and if I could possibly use his wiht my service instead?

Nagesh answers:

If you are still under your contract, you cant. You have to keep yours for the remainder of the agreement. If he owns his then he is most likely out of his contract and wont cost any thing to cancel. If and when your contract is up you can replace your receiver with his but you will have to buy a new access card for it ( $20.00 ) but you will be jumping through all those hoops for nothing because even though yours is leased, there is no lease fee

HEY – – ? – –
NOTE !!! You can NOT suspend service while under commitment and to suggest that suspended service months count toward said contract is not only absurd, Its irresponsible and misleading to your customers.
