Daniel asks…
How much is a PS3 worth?
I am getting one for my birthday, and I want to know which one should I get? Also, I’m looking for one that’s under $300. Thank you all 🙂
Nagesh answers:
First of all, let me greet you Happy Birthday in advance and that you made the right decision buying a PS3.
Under-$300 (not counting the tax) PS3s can be had used or refurbished from the stores and their online shops. A refurbished 120 or 160 gb Slim can go up for about 250-260 dollars MSRP, which is a safe bet to have to keep it under 300 dollars including taxes.
If you want a new PS3 as a peace of mind, unfortunately, they can only be had for at least 299.99 (starting with 160 gb models, and be aware that the 120 gb models were discontinued) MSRP and taxes quickly adds up to the price well over $300.
However some stores and online retailers such as eBay or Amazon may still have older fat PS3 models in mint (new) condition at lower prices anywhere between 200 and 250 dollars.
As for which model you want, 120 GB and above is the ideal because you never know if you are gonna use your PS3 heavily, downloading with its wide array of downloadable stuffs (movies, games etc) AND also because PS3 games usually install 3-5 GB of data on average which easily eats up space in the long run.
