Your Questions About Download Old Movies Online

James asks…

Advice on Microsoft Zune MP3 player?

I’m considering buying a Microsoft Zune MP3 player, but I have a few questions. Does anyone own one that can give me their input? How easy is it to find movies and tv shows online to download? Do I have to use the Zune marketplace? (I’ve heard it’s limited) If I downloaded movies from other sites is it possible to convert them to watch on my Zune? Or is there some type of copy protection on those movies that prevent that? I’ve also heard Zune will not play some older MP3s, but I’m not sure? Is there a way to convert them if so? As you can tell, my questions are basically in regard to the Zune being able to play different formats of video and audio…or atleast being able to convert them to Zune format. Any advice is appreciated.

One last question…can I use the AC and DC adapters while I’m using my Zune to keep the battery from running down? Or are these adapters only for charging the battery?

Thanks!

Nagesh answers:

The Zune Marketplace does not have movies at this time, only music videos and TV shows. You can’t get files from any other music service, because DRM restricts that. You have to find a store that offers files that are DRM free (Like Amazon or Wal-Mart). The Zune supports WMA, WMA Losless, AAC, and MP3 audio files. For video, it supports WMV, H.264, and MP4.
You can listen to your Zune while charging, but you will need an AC adapter. Like this one:

Steven asks…

is weird al yankovic REALLY against…?

Downloading music? i mean i hear his song “don’t download this song”
but it seems to have recollections of frivolous lawsuits such as 7 year old girl sued 3 years after downloading. an old grandma who was sued 6 months after death or something. and tommy chong , thrown into jail for downloading.

and in the song he states ” dont download this song, how else do you think i can buy another solid gold Humvee, these things dont grow on trees”

it seems like he is somewhat AGAINST downloading music online, and more taking the piss out on greedy artists that earn enough doing live shows and money through merchandise , etcetera.

So i wanna know weird al’s actual thoughts on this, does he care ? or he couldnt give a rats ass?
i want to think that he Doesnt care and thinks greedy artists are just a deadbeat ,

*also metallica band member heavily agrees on this. he strongly is against lawsuits due to download / copyright infringement*

*if it was MOVIES, i understand. but music? what the hell.* MC LARS also agrees on this

Nagesh answers:

I’m fairly sure he was making fun of people who throw a fit about people downloading a song that would cost 99 cent to buy from i tunes for free somewhere else while they are blowing every cent they have on crap they (and anyone with two brain cells to rub together) don’t need in the first place. If weird Al was against it he would make his views known one way or another.

Daniel asks…

What should I get my 48yr old dad for christmas?

He’s a nightmare to buy for because he doesn’t have any particular hobbies.
He likes:
Whiskey, saving money, all music (from acdc, rush, to tangerine dream, tracy chapman), fishing.

He downloads online so there’s no point in me buying movies or boxsets and I don’t really wanna get him iTunes cards or anything. He doesn’t often go out so I was thinking an experience type gift but price range is up to about £40. He mentioned wanting to go into the city centre to a jazz bar but i can only take him there, there’s no gift that i can present to him with that… Apologies for such a clichIé of a question but I’d really appreciate your help!

A photo album
You upload some pictures onto a Photo album online site and you can even type a couple of sentences underneath, saying whatever you want it to.
My mum did this for our Grandma a couple of years ago and it actually looked pretty good.
Plus it’s in your price range (more or less)

Helen asks…

What brand/model laptop should I buy?

It might help to know what kind of user I am.

Well I’m not a techy type of person. I usually use all my gadgets ‘to death’ meaning I use them forever until they break, are damaged, or giving me constant problems. Like my laptop right now. It’s old, giving me problems, and the springs are already damaged.

Here’s what I usually do on my laptop. I’m a copywriter, so I pretty much use it for storing word documents… thousands of them. But now I don’t really store all these documents on my comp since I found it not really necessary.

Other things I do is surf the net and watch YT videos. I don’t watch movies on it.

I do download music. Oh and occasionally some online games from Big Fish. I do plan to download old games though like heroes of might and magic 3 but have never tried doing that kind of download before.

I also do online banking.

I want something light, compact (a 12-inch notebook will really do) and userfriendly. No MAC. Maybe something affordable to mid-range in price.

I know I sound like a total ignorant when it comes to technology but that’s why I’m asking you guys right? I don’t want to ask the salespeople at the store since they’ll just sell me anything expensive.

Thanks 🙂

I was thinking of getting this but I don’t know, you tell me:

oh wow! it’s great answers are coming in, thanks!

Sorry I did forget to mention I do have 1 USB I like to stick on the side of the comp. And of course iPod.

My current laptop is eee PC by Asus..its already more than 3 yrs old I think. I’m already used to the awkward key placement 🙂 Will check on your suggestions brb.

Nagesh answers:

Sounds like you do not need a particularly powerful laptop anything in the $300-600 range (US) should do.
Determine your budget and visit your local stores where you can actually see the laptops in operation and type on it. The smaller laptops can have unusual key placements with all the typing you do that should be important to you.
Would recommend any of the laptops from known brands (except Compaq) that you like their keyboard, weight, battery life, and display on.
Assuming you use an external usb connected hard drive to store your important documents on. If that’s the case you might want to narrow your laptop search to one with USB 3.0 port on it. Not many of those at this time.
My laptop is an ACER and love it. Toshiba makes a nice compact and lightweight one (with no optical drive).
Do not like those netbooks: overpriced and tiny screens.
Personally think the Sony laptops overpriced.
