Is there a way I can legally download a movie to my computer from a DVD that I legally purchased?
I legally own a copy of “Mean Girls” that I’d like to copy to my laptop, but I’d like to do it legally and without any purchases of a software that will stripp the copyrights or anything. Is there a way I can do this?
Nagesh answers:
What is the illegal part is the circumvention of cryptography. However, you still have a legitimate case if you have purchased the DVD under what is called the ‘Fair Use’ section of copyright law. The MPAA got the DMCA (Digital Millenium Copyright Act) passed about the cryptography so they could try and sue anyone who ripped a DVD whether they had purchased it or not.
I’ve used VobBlanker, DVD Shrink, and a couple of other free programs to put my own purchased DVD’s onto my laptop. You can google those and find sites for them. They are both freeware.

How to download TV shows & Movies LEGALLY?
In light of SOPA and PIPA, I feel guilty about downloading TV shows and movies.
Is there anyway I can download TV shows and movies, legally, to my laptop? Say an episode of my favorite TV series airs and I miss it and I can’t stream it from the channel’s website for whatever reason, is there a legal way to download the episode the next day? Does iTunes offer this?
Thanks! 🙂
Nagesh answers:
Yes iTunes have downloadable TV Series, by the Season, or Individual episodes.
Just search for it in the search bar.
