How do I get the number to offices of my local cable TV when only number available is the customer svc number?
I’m an attorney trying to speak with executives for locally competitive cable television companies but I can’t find their phone numbers. The only numbers made available on the web or in the phone book are customer service lines, and the folks who answer there aren’t very helpful in directing me where I want to be.

Have you tried the better business bureau?

Do Direct-TV and Dish Network satellites have to face in the same direction?
I recently moved and was told by Dish Network that I have no line of site. I was told by a friend that Direct TV has more satellites in orbit so I might be able to receive service through them. What do you think?
Nagesh answers:
Roughly in the same direction. Directv has more satellites up there but the majority of the newer ones carry hd programming. The satellites orbit above the equator aimed back towards north america and if you look at the numbers of the sats (in the setup screens) the number tells you how many degrees above the equator that satellite is. Usually the dishes will face in a south southeasterly direction. Additionally, what you may or may not know, dish and directv share some satellites. I found this out when working in a directv call center, although we were told to never tell customers this. As far as a line of site, the satellites for dish might be in a different position and at your location there might be a building or tree that is blocking the signal whereas a directv dish might be positioned a bit different and get a good lock. One thing to consider also is that you can stand beside your dish and lets say you have one sat at 110 degrees and one at 119 degrees. Doesn’t sound like a whole lot, but those few inches equate into several hundreds even thousands of miles between the satellites.
Lisa asks…
how good is dish network and direct tv in Indianapolis?
Which one is better as far as options, ect. local channels, customer service?
Nagesh answers:
Dish is a far better price then direct tv. You do not get the NFL package, though, if that’s important. Direct TV has terrible customer service. A bit of a help on DISH. If you want good customer service “accidentally” choose the option for Spanish, apologize when you get an answer and someone in the states will help you. I know, awful, but sometimes the language barriers just get to be too much. I got that tip from a DISH installer.

How does a call center start a project and get its money?
Hello I have been working at a call center for a bit and was just wonder what goes on begind the scenes.
How does a call center start up?
How is it that a company AT&T, Direct TV, ETC…. agrees to let another company handle customers inbound calls?
What are the contracts like? Why do companies do this?
What goes on behind the scenes? Why?
If anybody has a webpage where I can find info on this it would be nice,
Do you know anything about this?
Nagesh answers:
I’ve financed a few call centers for clients. It can be pricey if you can’t get customers right away.
Basically it’s installing multiple phone lines on one network and answering each phone line appropriately. Many companies choose this because it is much cheaper than hiring staff, paying for the phone installs etc. As a call center, you already have the equipment and personnel and can ease the cost to your clients by sharing the lines.
Contracts are usually billed as a “per minute” or by a flat rate. Most call centers have it set up with an automated answering service built into the clients call line, but routes the call out when they caller reaches an option to speak to a representative.
Most call centers will only have one big client, or a few smaller clients. You can also structure it as an outbound calling service like telemarketing.

How can someone with no credit history order a tv service in this case?
A buddy of mine is 20 and he just moved into a rental house with his girlfriend. He tried calling direct tv, but they told him since he has no credit history that he can’t sign up with them. He tried to get his parents to sign on, but the cable guy wouldn’t let him for some reason. Also, Time Warner Cable is not offered in this area, so he couldn’t sign up for cable. The only other option is Dish Network. Would they require a credit history? How would he be able to get tv? Tv is just a necessity but it would still be nice for him to have. Both of them have a job.
I also suggested they get netflix. But, they want to try and get a tv service.
Nagesh answers:
Newsh,
I can definitely provide more information on this for you. We do offer special plans for customers with little or no credit. These are generally pay-in-advance plans and may require them to purchase equipment.
The available promotions and options would be disclosed to them when they call to sign up for service. I would recommend having them reach our sales team at 1-800-333-3474 or via chat at www.dish.com/chat under ‘New Customer Sales Support’. They can provide the full details for them.
