Call your local Direct TV company. Every city has a different channel for the network stations. If you have TV Guide or the TV schedule in your local paper, look there. Hope this helps.

Preview the guide. The DirecTV guide lists all of the shows available for you to watch. You can preview movie listings up to nearly 2 weeks in advance. The shows are listed in the order of the stations, and you can use the buttons on the systems’ remote to move forward on the guide. To move through the guide 30 minutes at a time, press the “Forward” arrow on the remote. To scroll through the guide in 12-hour increments, press the green button to go forward and the red button to go backward.
Search for a specific show. If you would like to search for a show and don’t know what channel or time it comes on, use the search menu. Press the “MENU” button near the center of your DirecTV remote control. From the menu, choose “Search for Shows” and press the “Select” button. From there, you can search by Title, Person, Channel or Keyword. You can also use the “Review recent searches” option to locate a show you have already searched. When you are searching by title, simply use your controller to input the letters and choose the show from the list.
Record a show. To choose the show you would like to record, highlight it using the cursor arrows on your remote and press the “Select” button. You will then see three options on the menu: “Record once,” “Rec. Series” and “Episodes.” If you would like to record the show only one time, highlight the “Record Once” option and press the “Select” button. From there, you can choose the start and stop time and complete your recording options.
Record a series. Select the “Rec. Series” option, then choose from the format list, which includes “Episode type,” “Keep at most,” “Keep until,” “Start” and “Stop.” Once everything is set, highlight the “Record Series” button and press “Select” on your remote. If the show you would like to record is already playing, press the “R” button on your controller and it will set it to record. If you press the button twice, the series will be recorded.
Watch the recorded show. To access the shows you have recorded using your DirecTV DVR, press the “List” button on your remote control. “My Playlist” will open, and you will see a list of all of the shows you have already recorded. If there is more than one episode of a show, they will be located in a folder that is labeled with the show name. You can open the folder by highlighting it and pressing the “Select” button. From there, you can select the episode you would like to watch, preview its running date and show information, and elect to play or delete it.
Hope this helps

Robert asks…
Can anyone tell me if DirecTV will work with Windows Media Center?
I have cable right now, but the prices is going up. I mostly use my computer to record my shows. I would like to know if DirecTV would work on my computer. If I have to have some kind of box to hook up to my computer and use the DirecTV remote, I don’t see how it could work. I want to be able to change the channels through the computer. The computer goes online and down loads the TV guide, so I am able to record moves. It works fine with cable. Does anybody have this problem?
Nagesh answers:
You would have to connect it to a sling box, dish network has the 922 receiver and it already comes with a built in sling box but if you are getting direct you need to buy a sling.

The channel on my tv wont change, but it will turn on and mute?
I press the number buttons and the guide button on my remote but nothing happens, only with those ^^^ buttons work? Strange. Any suggestions on what to do?
Nagesh answers:
This is happening to me to right now. It is bugging the heck out of me it is stuck on HLN right now and none of the buttons on either my Harmony 1 remote or regular Direct TV remote. Only the mute and volume buttons will work. So obviously I don’t have an answer but I feel for you. Haha.
