Chris asks…
does anyone know the fee involved in becoming a DIRECTBUY member??
how much does it cost to be able to shop at DIRECT BUY?
Nagesh answers:
They have several plans. A lifetime membership is a couple of thousand dollars. I think they try to get financial information from you and they charge what they think they can get. I think you can sign up for as little time as 6 months for a few hundred. I’ve had
friends that have not had good experience with their purchases.
(They kept bringing out the same dented refrigerator). I think you would be far ahead by going to a retailer and asking for a discount.
I’ve had good luck doing this, and the worst thing that has happened is they said they couldn’t do it at the moment.
This type of business comes around about every 25 years.
They don’t seem to have a lot of longevity, after people start suing them.

Can someone explain the thought process of Ebay buyers?
I’m a bit puzzled. As a part-time small home business apart from my regular job, I flip microsd cards. I buy them from a certain source in the USA for a lower price and re-sell them for profit.
My best seller is SanDisk 8GB MicroSD cards. I get them for $2.69 each. I can typically flip them directly for about $4 each. I sell in sets of 10. So after the shipping (I have my own label system and do all of the prep work at home and just take them to the post office), I make about $15 per envelope sent.
But there are lots of other people and companies that sell the same thing (used-which I also sell used) for $5 and $6 each. They have hundreds of people that buy from them for that price. My price is the lowest on Ebay for any company or individual. I put up a Buy It Now and I get like one watcher and no buyers. I have 130 feedback, 100% ratings and great comments from previous buyers on everything. Yet no one buys from me – they seem to go for the higher priced places for the exact same items. I even H2TestW test mine and put the images of the tests up for potential buyers to see. I can’t seem to sell a set of 10 of them that often for $40. Yet companies are selling many sets of 10 for like $65 and they do not even test their cards.
If I put a Lot of 10 up for auction, they go for between $40 and up to $52. But if I put it at $40 direct Buy It Now price, they won’t buy. What’s up with people?
I forgot to also mention that I have free shipping, ship within 1 Day and I’m a Bronze Power Seller for quite some time now. I also have a Basic Ebay Store.
Nagesh answers:
My guess is how your items are appearing in eBay search.
EBay keeps screwing with their search program that determines what sellers go to the top — AS an eBay TRS I can testify that it just continues to get worse.
EBay is out to make money — my guess is that if someone who is selling these for more can make eBay more money — there items will go to top of the search page.
Do a search for the item your selling — and see how far you have to go to find your item.
For better testing results don’t use your selling user name. For best results use someone else;s computer.
Betty asks…
Where on the web can one purchase plastic laminate covering at a decent price.?
Where can I get a decent selection of a quality plastic laminate for a resonable price. Omnova.com for example is a great site, big selection and direct buying, but has huge minimum orders on the good stuff.
600 yard rolls as low as a dollar or two a running yard.
But the stuff available on 50 yard rolls is 5 to 10 dollars a running yard.
Anyone have experiance with this?
I dont need silly answers from people who have never made furniture or otherwise worked with the product.
Nagesh answers:
Here is a reseller which will give you a quote based on texture & Quantity (Wilsonart or Formica)

How much does it cost to join the Direct Buy Home Furnishing stores? (www.directbuy.com)?
Direct Buy is a furniture, appliance, electronics, flooring, kitchen, bath – you name it for the home, and they have it – kind of store. I know there are several across the country, and there’s one by me. We are looking to purchase out first home and I was wondering if it was worthwhile to join, as we are starting with practically nothing.
Nagesh answers:
I forget how much it costs, since I checked it out years ago, but at that time, I felt that by shopping around, I could get what I was looking for at a better price than I could through them, and still save their fee.
The best thing for you to do is to look around your home and see what you’ll be buying next. Take a look at their store for it, and once you get pricing on it and their membership, then go shopping for it at other stores BEFORE you sign up with them.
Just compare, and make the decision based on your actual experience.
