Nagesh answers:

It will look bad compared to non hd . My kids bought me and my wife a HD TV for Christmas / Hanuka and have not been very happy with Direct TVs HD. We continue to have problems. They replaced the box, cables and dish and still we get pixel problems, voice sync problems ( looks like a 1950’s Japanese dubbed movie) lose picture on HD channel but OK on non-hd channel. 6 months and we’re feed up with them, especially since they want to charge us to come work on their problems, we’re switching to IO. My sister in-law has I/O and doesn’t lose picture or other problems in bad weather. My dish has 100% cLear line of site and my feeling is the dish is to sensitive and I rather be on a cable.

What should I get Direct TV or Time Warner Cable for TV?

Which provider has better overall service and prices in the long run? Should I go with the DIrect TV and Time Warner Road Runner INternet option or just get everything through Time Warner. I live in Los Angeles.

Nagesh answers:

I am not sure about the prices in LA, but I can tell you that I had Direct TV and got lousy reception due to the fact that there is heavy tree cover around my house.

The trees interfered with the satellite signal. Of coarse, they didn’t tell me it would be a problem when they installed it.

The same during heavy rains. No service.

What can I do to get my Direct TV remote to work?

My Direct TV receiver is behind my Samsung plasma TV {yes it has to be that way}. The remote works very poorly this way and is highly frustrating. Is there some type of remote sensor extender that works with Direct TV receivers?

Nagesh answers:

Get the UHF remote and antenna for your receiver.

How do they install direct tv in an apartment?

Hi I called direct tv and they are coming to install my dish on wed. I see many other people in my complex with dishes. I am wondering if i need to supply my own tripod for the dish to stand on my balcony? My complex does not allow drilling so I am wondering how they will run the wires from the dish to the inside of the apartment? Should I expect extra charges for my free installation because of this?

Nagesh answers:

No need to worry,Disk will come with Tripod and cable(I guess 15 meters free) and the installer will fix the disk and wire it to your room – so do not worry .
